This site provides practical information for people tending small gardens, patios and plots in Britain. Topics include ornamental plants, vegetables, containers, soil, composting, seasonal care and planning where to grow plants. The material is general information, not an assessment of your particular garden or circumstances.

Where an article discusses conditions outside Britain, do not assume its timing or methods apply unchanged to a British garden.
Take appropriate care when using tools, lifting materials, handling compost or working around plants and wildlife. Follow the instructions and safety information supplied with any product or equipment you choose to use. The site does not provide personalised medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, including advice on using plants for medical purposes.
Accuracy and availability
Articles are intended to be useful, but information can become outdated or may not account for local conditions. Plant performance and growing results cannot be guaranteed. If a decision has significant safety, financial or environmental consequences, check the relevant current guidance and obtain appropriate specialist advice where needed.
